Filter Cleaning & Repair

A filter not operating at full capacity  will produce cloudy water, poor flow, and maybe even white powder (diatomaceous earth) all over the bottom of your pool. Having a clean and correctly working filter can be the most important thing to having a clean pool.  If your pool filter is dirty and covered in algae like the one pictured here, your pump has to work even harder to circulate the water.  When this happens, the filtration of the water is not very effective and can get behind giving algae an opportunity to grow.  We generally perform a pool filter cleaning twice a year. Once at the beginning of the swimming season and once at the end.  Depending on what type of filter you have, its size, or if your pool has experienced an overwhelming event, your pools filter may need additional cleaning.

  • Diatomaceous Earth (DE) Filters – Need to be taken apart and cleaned every six months. When we do this, we inspect the condition of the grids and manifold for wear and tear. We also lubricate the backwash valve and any O-rings to keep it in good operating condition.

  • Cartridge Filters – These should be taken apart and cleaned every six months or more often if the pressure rises significantly above normal or the flows is significantly decreased.

**For Full Service programs, we will automatically schedule your filter cleaning visits every six months in our system.
